Digital live course: Acute psychiatry

What do you do when a patient is experiencing an acute mental health crisis? How do you assess suicide risk and risk of violence, and how do you communicate safely in demanding situations?

In this course, you will receive a practical and clinically oriented review of central issues in acute psychiatry. The course primarily covers adult psychiatry and is led by a psychiatrist and emergency physician.

How the course works

The course lasts 3 hours and consists of lectures and discussions of clinical cases.

You can participate anonymously and ask questions via chat throughout. There is no course exam.

The course takes place live on Zoom. You will receive information on how to connect beforehand, and a separate login link will be sent via email.

Before the course, you will also receive a preparatory email, including access to a digital course compendium.

A recording will be available for two weeks after the course for all registered participants.

• Other healthcare personnel

The course may also be relevant for police, security guards, fire and rescue services, and volunteer first responders who encounter people in acute mental health crises.

All participants will receive a course certificate upon completion.
